Thankful Changes
When I was a child, one of my favorite fall activities was raking up the leaves into a big pile and when the pile was big enough, I would start from far away and run and take a huge leap into the pile! I taught my own kids how to do that and we would laugh so hard with leaves in our hair! Living in the Northeast, the leaves change to colors of red, orange and yellow and can be so vibrant. Without the changing of the leaves, there would be no reason to make a pile and jump in them.
Just like the changing of the leaves I’m so thankful that the Lord doesn’t leave us where we are, but “changes” or transforms us, by changing the way we think. The God of the Universe; the Creator of the seasons cares about the way I think! We need to think differently than “this world” and by changing the way we think, we learn what God thinks and what His good, pleasing and perfect will is. Now that’s a change that makes all the difference! These changes yield a deeper, closer walk with the Lord!
Romans 12:2 says “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (NLT)
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you that you don’t leave me thinking like this world, but choose to transform my thoughts and help me to change the way I think! Thank you that your Holy Spirit walks with me and leads me into all truth in my thoughts and mind. Amen
