holy moment
I’ve been involved in Body & Soul® Fitness for the past 14 years. I love the fun, yet challenging workouts, the uplifting music, and the friendships formed over the years. I always leave class feeling stronger physically and spiritually! But sometimes, a certain song lyric paired with a specific move can create a holy moment that helps me open myself up to God in a special way. In these moments, I become vulnerable and available to what the Holy Spirit wants to teach or reveal to me. I had one of those holy moments recently in my Cardio Strength & Flexibility™ class during the song “Count ‘Em" by Brandon Lake. After a series of leg lifts and push-ups, we are able to release our tired muscles into a shell stretch on our mats. This stretch comes at a point when our sore muscles need a quick break before continuing on. Up until that stretch, the words to the song have been expounding on all the ways God is holy. Right after the lyrics, “How many sinners saved? How many bodies raised? How many empty graves? Can’t count ‘em”, we find ourselves in a bowed down position, prostrate before the Lord. This ushered in one of those holy moments for me. I imagined myself before a throne, before a mighty and powerful God. I realized my smallness compared to His greatness, and I imagined that if I were ever in that setting, I would fall face down before Him because He is perfect and truly holy. I needed that sweet moment to remind me that when I come to the Lord in prayer, sometimes I must simply bow down and just be in His presence, reverently adjusting my position before Him. And all it took to bring that holy moment into fruition was the right song, the right lyric, and the right activity, all timed perfectly together. Ask God to give you a holy moment with Him in your next Body & Soul® Fitness class.
