God is Unchanging
I love the changing of the seasons, especially the change from the cold of Winter to the warmth of Spring! I love green grass and flowers blooming and the warm sun. One little flower pops through the soil, then others follow. Crocuses, then daffodils, tulips, irises, each with a new burst of color and beauty as they show their faces. Then come the flowering trees that bloom and fade, giving way to green that will last for months. The normal, gradual change into spring is good change. However, I find that I resist unexpected, unsettling change. Too much, too fast brings stress. For example, we all know that Covid changed everything drastically, unexpectedly and swiftly! It brought stress. It was too much, too fast. And things continue to be unsettling and unstable in our world. One thing, however, brings comfort…the truth that God doesn’t change…ever! God’s Word reassures us over and over about this. There are dozens of verses about God being unchanging and hundreds of verses about His faithful love! One of my favorites is this: Hebrews 13:8 Amplified Bible). “Jesus Christ is (eternally changeless, always) the same yesterday and today and forever.” I think this constant is the only thing we can really count on. He makes us stable in a very unstable world! I love this Corrie ten Boom quote, “If you look at the world you’ll be distressed. If you look withinyou’ll be depressed. If you look at God you’ll be at seroquelinfo.com .” So, let’s determine to spend our days through each change in this world looking to God, seeking him in his Word and talking to him in prayer. As we cling to our unchanging God he will take us from distress to rest. We can count on it! How has God reassured you recently of his unchanging, constant character?
