Where Music, Faith & Fitness Meet

Does music bring joy to your heart and a smile to your face?

We hope so! From the beginning of Body & Soul Fitness in 1981 we knew that the music we chose to exercise to made a difference—a huge difference. We knew that our music was one of the unique things that set us apart as a faith & fitness organization.

When we got started, vinyl albums were all that we had—now some stores are bringing back the retro vinyl…there is nothing new under the sun, as the book of Ecclesiastes says. In the early years of Body & Soul, I would purchase albums from the local Christian bookstore (not bought online—there was no such thing) and I would listen to them on my phonograph to choose the songs for each session.

There were precious few artists in those days. Sandi Patti and Amy Grant were young singers finding their way—and who remembers “Evie?” Then the popularity of contemporary Christian music grew, and we found groups like DC Talk—with group members like TobyMac, a kid grooving to music before rap was a thing, along with Michael Tait, who now sings lead for the Newsboys. TobyMac as you know, is now mentoring many young artists, and of course he is still producing hits himself. Oh my, how far we’ve come!

This session in Body & Soul we bring you a huge variety of music from artists all around the world—including Tembalami, an artist known personally by our instructors and students in Zimbabwe. Enjoy his song Mapapiro this session!

It is our prayer that the music of this session will help you along your journey of Finding Joy, our session theme. We have created a devotional for you with thoughts and Scriptures to guide you to true joy.
