“Broken hearts on the city streets… I can hear that you’re calling me to be the hope, be the light, be the love right now, starting right now. Oh, you put my life in motion, your love makes me want to give my all. Ready set go, oh!”
Our hearts are gripped as we see the broken hearts on the city streets around us. We hear the call to reach out and help. The question is will we make time to do it? God calls us to be the hope, to be the light, to be the love. Brainstorm together as a class about what you can do in your community. Perhaps there is a need in the family of one of your students. Maybe there is a special cause that is dear to your heart. We can’t do everything, but we can do something! It’s easy to think that we will do it “later,” at a time that is more convenient. The fact of life is that it doesn’t slow down—and that “later” may never come. So—Ready-Set-Go! Now is the time!
Galatians 5:13b-14 “…serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in a single command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Questions: What do you think of when you hear the words “ready, set, go?” What does it mean in the context of this song? Have you been involved in a service project recently? Have you encouraged your children to also be involved in “loving their neighbors” whether near or far?
Prayer Power: Heavenly Father, We live in a world of so much need. So many people are hurting and struggling to know your truth. I ask for a heart to help others and the willingness to invest time to do it. May it all be for your glory. In Jesus name, Amen
